Course Information
This course combines both Working at Height and Manual Handling.
Working at Height addresses the unique challenges and risks associated with tasks performed at heights in wind turbine environments. Participants will acquire understanding in areas including Personal Fall Arrest Equipment, measures for preventing falls, ladder usage safety, individual and colleague rescue and protocols for handling emergencies.
The GWO Manual Handling training is a programme designed to equip individuals in the industry with the necessary skills and knowledge to handle objects and perform tasks in a way that minimises the risk of injuries related to lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
Practical Training and Safe Working
A strong focus is placed on practical training, ensuring participants can demonstrate correct actions in real scenarios. This includes:

Using fall arrest lanyards and guided type fall arresters correctly

Identifying and using anchor points safely

Carrying out pre use inspection of safety equipment

Performing self rescue and responding to rescue situations

Completing manual handling tasks in a safe manner
Participants will also practise performing comprehensive basic rescue using appropriate rescue equipment efficiently.

This training course is suitable for personnel with an in date GWO working certification that is approaching expiry or within the renewal window. It is essential for those carrying out manual handling tasks and working at height in the wind industry. Participants must hold a valid or recently expired height certificate and manual handling certification.

Correctly use personal fall protection equipment (PFPE).
Conducting work at heights while ensuring safety.
Carry out a safe basic height rescue operation in a remote wind turbine environment, while following the Working at Heights standards established by The GWO.-
A valid WINDA ID is required.

Safety footwear is required for all practical sessions.

A general standard of fitness is required.

Photographic ID Card, such as a drivers licence or passport.

A valid in-date Working at Height and Manual Handling certificate is required.

After successfully finishing the course, participants will receive a GWO-approved Manual Handling/Working at Height certificate, which remains valid for a duration of two years. To maintain their certification, delegates are required to undergo GWO Manual Handling and Working at Height Training again before the certificate's expiration date.
Registration and Welcome: The day typically begins with registration, where participants confirm their attendance and receive any necessary training materials or equipment.
Safety Briefing: A safety briefing is conducted to highlight the importance of adhering to safety protocols throughout the training session and in our centre.Participants or individuals booking the course are responsible for ensuring that they meet all the necessary prerequisites and provide the required evidence, such as valid certificates for revalidation courses, on the first day of the course.
Failure to fulfill any of these prerequisites may lead to the participant being requested to leave the course. Please note that no refunds will be issued in such cases.
