Our GWO Advanced Rescue Training (ART) is a specialist training course designed for experienced technicians working in the wind industry. This advanced rescue training builds on gwo working at height knowledge and prepares course participants to carry out complex rescue operations in challenging wind turbine environment conditions.
Aligned with the Global Wind Organisation standards, this gwo advanced rescue training equips wind personnel with the skills, knowledge, and techniques required to safely manage emergency scenarios before professional emergency responders arrive.

Course Information
The combined GWO Advanced Rescue (ART) course includes all four modules, covering advanced rescue techniques and single rescuer operations in various sections of a wind turbine. This training addresses rescue scenarios in the hub, spinner, inside the blade, nacelle, tower, and basement, ensuring participants are equipped to handle complex situations throughout the entire turbine structure.
This training includes the the use of industry-standard rescue equipment and techniques, surpassing the standards set by GWO Working at Height, to ensure you are prepared for any rescue operations.
This training course is becoming increasingly popular as a result of heightened safety requirements within the industry.
Practical Training and Equipment Use

The GWO advanced rescue training art programme is a recognisable advanced rescue training standard focused on rescue operations conducted within wind turbines. This advanced rescue training includes modules covering rescue across critical areas such as the nacelle tower and basement, as well as hub spinner and inside blade environments.
This GWO advanced rescue course is structured around four modules, each targeting specific rescue methods and rescue techniques that go beyond basic training, methods and techniques exceeding those of GWO working at height.

Perform rescue operations in a wind turbine.

A valid WINDA ID is required.

You must have valid and in-date GWO Working at Height.

You must have valid and in-date GWO First Aid.

You must have valid and in-date GWO Manual Handling.

Safety footwear is required for all practical sessions.

A general standard of fitness is required.

Photographic ID Card, such as a drivers licence or passport.

After successfully finishing the course, participants will receive a GWO-approved ART certificate, which remains valid for a duration of two years. To maintain their certification, delegates are required to undergo GWO ART again before the certificate's expiration date.
Registration and Welcome: The day typically begins with registration, where participants confirm their attendance and receive any necessary training materials or equipment.
Safety Briefing: A safety briefing is conducted to highlight the importance of adhering to safety protocols throughout the training session and in our centre.
Catering: Lunch will be provided to all delegates.Participants or individuals booking the course are responsible for ensuring that they meet all the necessary prerequisites and provide the required evidence, such as valid certificates for revalidation courses, on the first day of the course.
Failure to fulfill any of these prerequisites may lead to the participant being requested to leave the course. Please note that no refunds will be issued in such cases.
Certification and Course Information
Upon successful completion, participants completing this GWO advanced rescue training will receive certification recognised across the wind industry. This combined course may also be delivered as part of a combined GWO ART package. A refresher is required to maintain certification and ensure continued competence in advanced rescue techniques.
Advanced Rescue Training Modules
This module focuses on tower and basement rescue scenarios, including basement rescue in confined basement sections. Delegates learn how a single rescuer nacelle tower approach can be applied to safely access and successfully transport an injured person to an assembly point.

The hub spinner and inside blade module prepares participants for complex rescues in elevated and confined areas. This includes inside blade rescue, blade rescue, and spinner and inside blade operations.

These advanced rescue techniques are essential for ensuring self reliance in situations where immediate external help is unavailable.

A key focus of advanced rescue training is the ability for a single rescuer to perform rescue operations effectively. This includes injured person rescue operations in both the tower and hub.
