Course Overview
The GWO Hub Rescue Refresher course is designed to renew the advanced skills required to perform rescue operations in complex areas of a wind turbine environment, including the hub, nacelle, and blade. This advanced rescue training refresher ensures personnel maintain compliance with GWO Advanced Rescue Training (ART) standards.
This rescue training refresher includes theoretical and practical training, building on previously gained knowledge from the initial GWO advanced rescue training course. It focuses on refreshing rescue methods, safe working practices, and the correct use of industry standard rescue equipment.
Participants will strengthen their ability to respond effectively to emergency situations within a wind turbine generator.

Course Information
Hub Rescue training focuses on developing specialised expertise and understanding necessary for rescuing personnel working in diverse sections of a wind turbine, encompassing the hub area.
This training contributes to creating a safer working environment in the wind industry by equipping teams with the expertise needed to respond effectively to emergencies in and around the hub.
Practical Training and Rescue Scenarios
A strong focus is placed on practical training and practical exercises, allowing course participants to demonstrate competence in realistic situations. This includes:

Inside blade rescue and blade rescue refresher scenarios

Hub rescue operations within the WTG hub and spinner

Tower and basement rescue including confined space considerations

Performing injured person rescue operations using correct equipment and techniques
Participants will use standard rescue equipment methods to safely recover casualties and respond effectively under pressure.

This refresher course is suitable for wind industry personnel who hold a valid GWO ART certification that is approaching expiry or within the renewal window. It is essential for those involved in injured person rescue operations in turbine environments. Participants must have completed their original ART training and hold relevant certifications such as GWO working at height and manual handling where required.

Assess and develop an individual rescuer's plan for diverse rescue scenarios within a wind turbine hub and surrounding areas.

Learn the process of rescuing an individual from a confined space using a range of specialised equipment.

Learn how to remain calm on site in an emergency situation and take the best measures.

Acquire the skill of examining users' personal protective equipment (PPE).

Identify risks and hazards when working at height in a turbine environment.

Ensure safe utilisation of both full and half-type stretchers.

A valid GWO Working at Height certificate is required.

A valid WINDA ID is required.

Safety footwear is required for all practical sessions.

Photographic ID Card, such as a drivers licence or passport.

A general standard of fitness is required.

A valid GWO hub rescue certificate is required.

Upon completion of the course, delegates will be awarded with GWO approved certification for Hub Rescue. Certification is valid for 2 years, prior to expiry delegates must redo the refresher course to remain certified.
Registration and Welcome: The day typically begins with registration, where participants confirm their attendance and receive any necessary training materials or equipment.
Safety Briefing: A safety briefing is conducted to highlight the importance of adhering to safety protocols throughout the training session and in our centre.
Catering: Lunch will be provided to all delegates.Participants or individuals booking the course are responsible for ensuring that they meet all the necessary prerequisites and provide the required evidence, such as valid certificates for revalidation courses, on the first day of the course.
Failure to fulfill any of these prerequisites may lead to the participant being requested to leave the course. Please note that no refunds will be issued in such cases.
The course refreshes the correct use of rescue equipment, ensuring participants can apply equipment methods and techniques that meet industry standards. Training includes working with systems designed for complex rescues and understanding how to operate efficiently within restricted environments.
Participants will reinforce their understanding of hazards associated with working in a wind turbine environment, including confined space risks and access limitations within the nacelle tower and blade areas. The course ensures all participants can carry out rescue operations in a WTG safely and in line with GWO requirements.
Certification and Validity
Upon successful completion, participants renew their GWO Hub Rescue Refresher certification as part of GWO ART refresher training. Certification is recorded and remains valid according to GWO standards.
